80% of Australian emergency beacon activations were unwarranted last year.

“The resource is finite, we can’t respond to everything. The less unnecessary activations of beacons the better.”

The Australian Navy found Tony Bullimore twenty years ago after four days at sea in a highly publicised rescue in an around-the-world race.

“I don’t think I would be here to talk to you, I think the EPIRB was the almighty that saved my life,” he said.
