The vessel was on its return journey after completing the Sydney to Hobart yacht race.

“The crew were instructed to activate their EPIRB and that was probably the one thing that saved them.”

“We take our hat off to those rescue guys for a marvelous effort.”

It was one of the toughest rescues that the paramedics had ever performed, with the life raft drifting and pushed by winds at odd angles.
