A father and son were saved from a cold and wet night stranded on a shallow coral reef when they discovered their other means of communication were of no use, by activating their EPIRB that was picked up by both Russian and Indian geostationary satellites.
A police helicopter checked on them, and volunteers from SA Sea Rescue Squadron from Goolwa, Australia came to rescue the pair, who expressed encouragement to other boaters to always check their safety equipment.
