An NBC journalist jumps in the water with an EPIRB to demonstrate how it works, and how having one on board might have helped shorten the week-long search by the US Coast Guard for two missing Jupiter, Florida teens, who had no EPIRB and likely no drinking water.
Minutes later, the EPIRB signal tested by the Today Show journalist was picked up by NOAA, who revealed that EPIRBs had already saved 73 American lives (now 84 . . .) so far in 2015.
